Guejar Sierra is a typical white washed Andalusian village located on the edge of the Sierra Nevada national park at a height of just over 1000m. The population is small (less than 3000) however, there are all the necessary amenities that you would require to make your visit enjoyable. Located in the village are a couple of convenience stores which stock all the basics you would need. There are specialist meat, fish and hardware shops. There is also a newsagents and a pharmacy. The town also has two banks which both have ATMs.
The city centre of Granada can be reached in 20 minutes. t is a modern city with an abundance of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. ou can take a bus directly from the village square to Granada which only costs approximately 1 euro. A great option if you wish to sample the wines at the tapas bars whilst you are visiting the city centre.
The ski resort of Sierra Nevada is 30 minutes from the Village although this is expected to reduce to 20 minutes when the new mountain road opens in 2007.
